Alfredo T Davila Jr.

Biography

Born May 23rd, 1940 in a small town called Harlingen, Texas to Alfredo and Catarina Davila. He lived there most of his life until he was drafted into the U.S. Army on April 7, 1960. He trained at Fort Hood Texas and completed his Advanced Infantry Training at Fort Hood as well.

After his training was completed, he was shipped to Baumholder, Germany for 18 months, then he was reassigned to Fort Lewis Washington with the 4th Infantry Division. In November of 1963 he was transferred to San Antonio Texas, Fort Sam Houston. Soon after he left to Alaska to Fort Wainwright in October of 1965, two months later the Battalion was moved to Scoffield Barracks in Honolulu, Hawaii. He joined the 25th Tropic Lightening Division and was activated to the Republic of South Vietnam, where he served one year in Cu-Chi as an E-5 Infantry Team Leader. In December 1966, he was assigned to Fort Benning Georgia and was promoted to Staff Sergeant E-6. His last assignment was in 1967 where he departed to Swrinfurst, Germany. He was discharged in June 9, 1968.

He is a lifetime member of the VFW, DAV, and Military Order of the Purple Heart Chapter 1836, and serves as Sergeant In Arms and Welfare Officer helping his fellow Veterans in need.
